The Friends’ outing to the Museum of Kent Life started
with a beautiful sunny day and a very enjoyable coach ride to Maidstone town
centre. There we boarded the river boat Kentish Lady
for a cruise on the river Medway to Arlington Lock and the museum, with a
running commentary on all the sites along the river bank.
The museum was really interesting, with hop-pickers’
houses, oast houses and other buildings displaying everything the way it used
to be in the olden days.
There was even piglet racing!
